Super Talent 128GB SSD Drops Solid State Price Like It's Hot

Sound the alarm for hard disks—it looks like solid state drive prices have plunged enough to finally jump out of early adopter territory. California-based flash memory maker Super Talent is now offering a 128GB SSD for $300 retail. That's $150 cheaper than a comparable offer from Dell and about $4.95 cheaper per GB than Intel's disks (though, granted, Intel's runs faster). More »

Epson's P-6000 and P-7000 Photo Viewers Look Semi-Decent, But Expensive

Epson's got two LCD-based photo viewers in the P-6000 and P-7000 that don't look half bad. They have 80GB and 160GB respectively, with RAW support, 35% faster image download speed compared to old models, 640x480 resolution, and a 94% reproduction of the Adobe RB color gamut. The price—$599 and $799—reflect the fact that they're more for professional photographers that need to dump their photos onto something, rather than your parents, who just want to look at the grandkids on the go. Freecom Mobile Drive XXS Is the Smallest, Lightest 2.5-inch Hard Drive

Freecom's just taken the portable hard drive crown with what they're claiming to be the smallest and lightest 2.5-inch USB drive on the market now. Their Mobile Drive XXS comes in 160GB, 250GB and 320GB sizes, and is bus-powered for one less thing you have to carry around. It seems like the race to having the smallest 2.5-inch hard drive is kind of ridiculous. The lowest you can go is down to the bare drive, which is exactly what someone should release (complete with USB adapter cable) and call themselves the ultimate victor in this competition no one cares about. Iocell Contents Phone Gives Your Calls a Soundtrack

On its face the Iocell Contents Phone is just another phone, albeit a pretty shiny one, but it's what this phone can do to liven up your calls that makes it slightly more interesting. Inside the black veneer is a hard disk, which can be used for on hold music, recording conversations for that upcoming extortion trial, or playing background music during your calls. You can even take those recorded calls and play them on your computer for literally minutes of incredible fun. Now, I don't know about you, but my next call to the significant other will be enhanced by the melodious "Business Time" by the Flight of the Conchords. Who needs subtlety? I'll have a singing phone. Canon Updates HD Palmcorders With HF11, HG21 Versions

Canon's AVCHD HF10 camcorder got an excellent reception earlier this year, and now Canon have tweaked it slightly into the upcoming HF11 version. The most important tweaks are doubling the internal storage from 16GB to 32GB and the addition of a 24Mbps high quality MXP imaging mode. Otherwise, most features of the camera remain the same. Similar tweaks have been made to last year's HG10 HDD camera, adding in the 24Mbps shooting mode, a 120GB drive and now allowing movies to be saved onto SD card whereas before it was limited to still imagery. Both cameras will be available in August for $1,300. [AVWatch]
