JWD Media-Playing Alarm With Radio, Chumby for Cheapos?
This little box from JWD does pack in a fair number of functions: 2-inch 220 x 176 TFT screen, built-in lithium battery, speakers, 1GB of memory, MP3, WMA and MP4 playback, FM radio and alarm clock. It can even record the radio or a line-in audio source, and has an SD slot for expansion. It doesn't have a touchscreen or Wi-Fi, but this Chumbyesque device is at least fairly reasonably priced: $88 for one, with discounts if you buy in bulk. [Shopkami via Chipchick] -

I'm not quite sure I've got this right, but this here thingy is a remote-controlled clock-MP4 player-hidden camera. Just days after Sony released its new PlayStation 3 firmware update, people are already pointing out new problems it's caused rather than fixed. Soda Can MP4 is Not All That Refreshing
As you might have guessed, the NXMP324 from Neux Corp is not what I would call a "serious" product, but those looking for something a little different may find its support for MP3, WMA, WMV, WAV and ASF file formats, built-in USB 2.0 port, FM radio, and 128MB to 4GB capacities mildly interesting. Not me though—I'm still holding out for the MP4 shaped like a bottle of Thunderbird in a paper bag. Pricing info available upon request. [Globalsources via PMP Today] -

Made of stainless steel, this watch has a 1.5-inch LCD screen, 2GB memory, MP4 video and MP3/WMA/WAV audio. $199 isn't cheap, but how else are you going to get video on a watch? Epoq MP4 player: Size of a Matchbox, Memory of a Goldfish
This MP4 player from Epoq is the same size as a book of matches. Available in either white or chrome and 1GB or 2GB versions, there's a miniSD Memory Card slot to give you up to 4GB memory space. It's quite cute—the buttons down the side are very retro—but it's too small for my liking. More » -

Maplin A93GC MP4 Player Attempts to Challenge iPod nano, Probably Fails
Maplin is positioning the A93GC MP4 player as a potential iPod nano killer, which is like saying Hillary wants to be president—we know that already. What we don't know, however, is how Maplin intends to accomplish this small feat. So far, the only, you know, facts we know are that it'll cost some $112 when it's released in the beginning of November. Afterwards, its price will skyrocket to around $190 before the end of the year. Good idea all around. More »
